At today’s PMQs Deputy Angela Rayner attacked the Tories over lost £21bn of taxpayers’ money as stand-in Oliver Dowden says Britain ‘cannot afford Labour.’

Britain ‘can’t afford Labour’

Oliver said the government is trying to recover that money. Then said Labour plans a £28bn spending spree that would add £1,000 to everyone’s mortages, He said Britain cannot afford Labour.

Woking council has declared it is effectively bankrupt after admitting a risky investment spree involving hotels and skyscrapers overseen by its former Conservative administration had left it facing a deficit of £1.2bn.

“These challenges are so significant that the council cannot simply deal with them on its own,” said Ann-Marie Barker, the Liberal Democrat leader of the council, who took over from the Tory administration.

The council said it faced the “extremely serious” financial shortfall owing to its “historic investment strategy.”

Labour megapoll

Keir Starmer is on course to clinch a landslide majority of 140 for Labour at the next UK general election, the first modelling based on a megapoll of new constituency boundaries suggests, reports The Guardian.

Also, up in Scotland Labour is projected to be on course for a major comeback. Best for Britain said the poll showed the SNP was “bleeding voters” to “don’t knows.”
