Corbyn was right trended again on social media yesterday.

It has been trending numerous times, wether you agree or not with it.

This time is comes as Thames Water chief executive Sarah Bentley stepped down with immediate effect and there have been rumblings that the company might need to be taken back into the public sector as debts mount, and Labour support Thatcher’s right to buy policy.

In recent times Bentley gave up her contracted bonus, however the chief executive managed to double her pay, raking in £1.5 million.

Public ownership

It has been reported Thames Water, is in talks with officials over contingency plans including a temporary nationalisation as concerns grow over its more than £13bn (€15bn) debt pile.

The business said: “The business said in a statement: “Thames Water received the expected £500 million of new funding from its shareholders in March 2023 and is continuing to work constructively with its shareholders in relation to the further equity funding expected to be required to support Thames Water’s turnaround and investment plans.

“Ofwat is being kept fully informed on progress of the company’s turnaround and engagement with shareholders.”

A Government spokesman said: “This is a matter for the company and its shareholders.

“We prepare for a range of scenarios across our regulated industries – including water – as any responsible government would.

“The sector as a whole is financially resilient. Ofwat continues to monitor the financial position of all the key water and wastewater companies.”

Corbyn was right

It didn’t take long for people on Twitter to hark back to 2019 when the Jeremy Corbyn planned to renartionalise water firms.

The Sunday Times called it a ‘plot.’

Jeremy Corbyn responded writing: “Water is an essential service which must be run for the many, not for the profits of the few.”

Case in point; because Corbyn wanted to nationalise our now shite filled water, it was a plot. #CorbynWasRight https://t.co/9gjn6wplUd pic.twitter.com/9lAj1q8oiK

Right to buy

The Labour Party “supports” the Right to Buy, but would go further to ensure council homes sold under the scheme are replaced, shadow housing secretary Lisa Nandy has said, reports Inside Housing.

Corbyn tweeted: “Right to Buy was the single most disastrous policy of Thatcher’s reign. Social housing was decimated, and private landlords reaped the rewards. Thatcherism is the cause — not the solution — to the housing crisis. We need mass council house building and rent controls instead.”

Nandy & her acolytes didn't break him as a man, they broke people's lives instead. Wilfully.#CorbynWasRight pic.twitter.com/QTMCE6twPg
