Carol Voderman at it again this time turning attention to education system

It comes as Rishi Sunak vowed to get tough on universities as they're full of non-Tory voters.

Carol Voderman has took to Twitter to call out the UK’s education system.

As we have said before, Voderman was an unlikely campaigner, but she seems to be on a mission and long may it continue.

It comes as Rishi Sunak vowed to get tough on universities as they’re full of non-Tory voters, reports The Mirror.

The paper claims he told Tory supporters in Bury, Gtr Manchester, last August: “We’ve got to get far tougher on those university courses that are simply not paying their way, because we are spending your money to subsidise these courses, which are not producing the goods for people, right?

“So it’s great news for the universities largely full of, you know, people who don’t vote for us anyway.”

Today she tweeted: “State VS Private schools Thatcher/Major sold 10,000 school playing fields Private schools keep charitable status, so don’t pay VAT or full tax assessment. Don’t pay approx £1,800 million tax per year. But don’t worry Tory gov giving kids £3million this summer for a kick around.”

Another account shared a graph on the funding level difference which probably answers some of Voderman’s questions…

Reactions

1.

Private schools give their pupils a thorough knowledge of their own entitlement and superiority. Of course they deserve our charity. Money must always flow from the poor to the rich.

2.

The words of @RishiSunak “well they weren’t going to vote for us anyway” explains that

My word Nothing Charitable about Private Schools look what comes out of them 🙄

Or indeed this…

Private schools are not charities… & neither are far-right think tanks 😡 https://t.co/u9VsTARrmC

She also tweeted about the YMCA report from January 2020.

Voderman wrote: “YMCA REPORT JAN 2020 It breaks my heart

😔

“In 10 yrs since Old Etonians fundamentally took power, youth services have been decimated. 4,500 youth work jobs cut and 760 youth centres closed Don’t know figures since Covid TORIES DON’T CARE.”

Adding to the debate she also wrote: “BREAKING OUR YOUTH Today Tory gov announces £3m for youth activities over summer 10 yrs since they came to power they have, through LAs, cut spending on youth services by 74% from £1,480m to £379m DESPICABLE Maybe they don’t care cos their kids are in subsidised private schools?”

This response is quite a depressing cliam, to which Carol replied to with a shame emoji.

Alan Dazely wrote: “There are no youth clubs still open in my local area- a fairly affluent area of the south east. Cameron and Osborne took a lighted match to public services in 2010 and it’s been continued for 13 years. What you sow, you reap: more youth crime, more poor youth mental health.”
