Tory MP Theresa Villiers said she had held a stake oil giant Shell worth over £70,000 since February 2018.
The former environment secretary has admitted she didn’t declare her financial interest in the company.
The Mirror’s Kevin Maguire shared the paper’s front page that splashed the scandal and wrote: “The scandal of a Tory secretly holding £70,000 Shell shares when Environment Secretary is today’s @DailyMirror splash. Theresa Villiers in a huge coincidence opposes measures to combat climate change. Clearly wealthy, she’s also voted to curb benefits and shackle trade unions.”
Jolyon Rubinstein had this to say on the scandal and wrote: she…”had £70,000 in Shell shares while environment secretary.”
Tory MP’s response
So over to Sky News and Anna Jones asked John Glen MP: “…owned £70k worth of shares in Shell when she was environment secretary, that wasn’t declared for 5 years… what do you make of that?”
Glen brushed it off and said: “It was an oversight on her part & she’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Oh well, that’s alright then…
