Holly Willoughby’s resignation was such big news for Sky News that they decided to discuss the story live from Israel…now a war zone.

Sky News presenter Mark Austin has been reporting live on the ground in Jerusalem when the news of the resignation broke.

“Presenter Holly Willoughby has told ITV that she will not return to host This Morning,” he said.

Then adding: “She has not returned to the show since a man was charged last week with an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.”

Holly Willoughby’s resignation

In a social media post on Tuesday (10 October), the star, 42, said it has been an “honour to just be part of its story”, but “I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family”.

It seems an alleged kidnap plot against her had pushed her decision to quit the morning show.

“To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you,” Willoughby’s statement read.

Big news, in light entertainment circles, but the horrific situation in Israel and Palestine must be seen as a more important issue.

It’s incredibly Black Mirror to announce this in BREAKING NEWS fashion from that location with that backdrop.

Announcing this from Jerusalem seems really bizarre.

4.

How was this respectful to all the other things going on in the world. Absolutely, tasteless to announce it live from a war zone.
