Despite featuring arguably the most irritating NPC, Roman Bellic, GTA IV holds a prestigious position as one of the highest-rated video games on Metacritic.

With an impressive score of 98 on both PS3 and Xbox 360, and a solid 90 on PC, the possibility of a IV remaster by developer Rockstar Games seems plausible, especially given their recent release of the Red Dead Redemption port on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Rumors suggest that Rockstar Games is gearing up to release a port or remaster of GTA IV before the highly anticipated GTA VI. A Twitter account, @JeffPulaski, first shared this claim. While the account has a limited following, it’s crucial to approach such information with skepticism.

Although there were reports in July 2022 indicating that Rockstar Games had canceled plans for Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV remasters, the release of the former contradicts this. Additionally, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, hinted at releasing two “previously-released titles” during the fiscal year 2024, which concludes at the end of March next year.

While the official VI trailer is set to debut soon, the game’s release is expected between 2024 and 2025. Considering this gap, releasing a GTA IV port makes strategic sense for Take-Two Interactive, especially if it requires minimal effort rather than a full remaster.

In the interim, the current version of GTA IV is available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, with compatibility on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, along with its acclaimed expansions, The Lost and the Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Grand Theft Auto VI is anticipated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
