Nigel Farage has expressed his desire to participate in the Bushtucker trials on I’m A Celebrity in order to secure more screen time, stating, “If you undertake the challenges, it accounts for 25% of the airtime.”

Known as one of the most controversial additions to the show, the former UKIP leader is reportedly set to earn £1.5 million for his reality TV appearance. This has led to a backlash from viewers, resulting in a boycott and a significant drop in viewership compared to the previous series.

During the selection process for the second Bushtucker trial, No Time To Cry, Farage appeared disappointed when the audience chose the easily frightened Nella Rose instead of him. Later, he confided in fellow campmate and food critic Grace Dent about his desire to participate in the trials, expressing his hopes of reaching a new audience on television.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly playfully mocked Farage, announcing their intention to reveal who would be receiving the next portion of the airtime, emphasizing the competitive nature of the show. Farage’s exclusion from the Climb of Cruelty trial on Wednesday, along with Rose, was attributed to medical reasons.

In another development during the episode, ITV encountered technical glitches, causing home screens to black out. Ant McPartlin humorously remarked that they had lost “2%” of the airtime.

Social media buzzed with I’m A Celebrity viewers urging fellow fans to cease voting for Farage in the trials, expressing concerns about giving him more airtime. Some commented, “Stop voting for Nigel Farage and contributing to his airtime; he might excel in the trials and win public favor—don’t be swayed by it.”

“Similar to most elections, the British public seems poised to avoid voting for Nigel Farage,” remarked another viewer.
