The UAE will host this year’s Cop28 UN climate summit in Dubai, which might surprise a lot of people.

The talks start on 30th November, and Sultan Al Jaber, the government minister for United Arab Emirates who will preside over this year’s crucial UN climate talks, will retain his roles as head of the country’s oil company and sustainable energy businesses.

This might seem like a conflict of interest to you and, well, everyone with any sense?

It has fuelled activists’ worries that big industry is hijacking the global response to environmental crisis.

So you can imagine Greta Thunberg is not exactly jumping for joy at the news.

She told an audience during a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos: “Lobbyists have been influencing these conferences since forever, and this just puts a very clear face to it.

“It’s completely ridiculous.”

Good luck to Greta and all the other young activists.
You are doing the right thing.
It really doesn't matter what the climate science deniers claim, they are unable to produce evidence to support it.

Its always good to hear @GretaThunberg tell it like it is. Ahead of #COP28UAE we must take on the lobbyists as well as investors. BP employed Ogilvy & Mather who came up with a carbon footprint calculator in 2004 to deflect blame from oil giants and place it on individuals.

English is not Greta's 1st language, yet she is more articulate in English than English-speaking politicians.

More and more awareness of how it is monopoly-capitalism – imperialism – that is destroying the planet. https://t.co/3TJpLeE4vN
