Actor Robert De Niro delivered a scathing rebuke of former President Donald Trump during a three-minute tirade on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” where he labelled Trump as a “fucking moron” and urged the audience not to support him in any future political endeavors.
The feud between De Niro and Trump dates back to 2016 when the actor publicly criticized Trump’s presidential campaign and expressed his desire to physically confront him. Since then, the two have traded insults, with their animosity reigniting as Trump gears up for the 2024 presidential race.
During Monday’s episode of the late-night talk show, De Niro responded to recent social media posts by Trump, in which the former president attacked the actor’s intelligence and acting abilities.
“He’s so fucking stupid,” De Niro exclaimed, dismissing Trump’s remarks as “lame” and “inane.” He further characterized Trump as a “fucking moron” and criticized his leadership, labeling him as “dangerous” and a “malignant narcissist.”
De Niro implored the audience to reject Trump at the ballot box, expressing disbelief at the continued support the former president receives. He also chastised members of the Republican Party for their allegiance to Trump, calling them out for their lack of courage in challenging him.
“Shame, shame, shame on those Republicans that don’t have the nerve, the balls, to go after him,” De Niro exclaimed. “What do they tell their kids? What do they tell their grandkids?”
Trump’s recent social media activity has also targeted other Hollywood figures, including criticism of the Oscars and host Jimmy Kimmel. However, De Niro remained undeterred, delivering his impassioned critique of Trump despite the former president’s attempts to undermine him.
As Trump faces multiple legal challenges and civil lawsuits, including a recent ruling against him in a civil fraud case, De Niro’s comments reflect a broader sentiment of resistance against the former president’s continued influence in politics and public discourse.
Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to requests for comment on De Niro’s remarks.
