Comedian Joe Lycett, known for his biting political satire and mockery of former Prime Minister Liz Truss, has shifted his focus to Labour’s Lisa Nandy in his latest viral video. Lycett, who gained widespread attention for his sarcastic “support” of Truss during her brief premiership, is now turning his comedic talents towards the current Labour administration.

In the video, Lycett presents a manifesto for the arts, taking playful jabs at Nandy, Shadow Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. His mock campaign comes after his well-documented run-ins with Truss, which injected humour into a tense political landscape during her time in office.

Lycett’s political satire first went viral when he appeared on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg last year. He sarcastically endorsed Truss’s policies just before she became Prime Minister, delivering ironically supportive commentary while Truss struggled to answer critical economic questions. His performance, which included mock applause and thinly veiled jabs, quickly became a social media sensation.

After Truss’s resignation following her infamous mini-budget, Lycett continued his trolling. He regularly posted cheeky updates on social media, including one notable moment when he unveiled a portrait of Truss at the Conservative Party Conference, captioned with the phrase “In Liz We Truss.” His ongoing satire of the former PM earned him a reputation as a comic thorn in the side of politicians.

In his latest video, Lycett jokes about his role in holding politicians to account, saying he’s been performing the vital task of “shoving it right up their arses” by keeping a sharp comedic focus on political figures. Though his past critiques have primarily targeted Conservative politicians, this shift to Labour demonstrates his equal-opportunity approach to political humour.
