Strictly Come Dancing stars Katya Jones and Wynne Evans have issued an apology after fans expressed concern over their on-screen behaviour during Saturday night’s live show. The duo assured viewers they were “just messing around,” following a series of clips that left some fans feeling uncomfortable.

Wynne, best known for his role in the Go Compare adverts, has impressed both judges and viewers with his steady improvement in the competition. Paired with former Strictly champion Katya Jones, Wynne earned high praise from the judges in the fourth live show, achieving a score of 34 out of 40. Their strong performance tied them at the top of the leaderboard before being overtaken by Tasha Ghouri’s performance later in the night.

However, two particular moments after their performance drew attention. In one instance, Wynne attempted to high-five Katya, but she appeared to snub him and roll her eyes, a moment caught on camera. Later, as they gathered with their co-stars and host Claudia Winkleman, Wynne was seen moving his hand along Katya’s body, prompting her to seemingly move it away.

The moments quickly circulated on social media, sparking debate among fans. Responding to the online reaction, Katya and Wynne posted a video explaining the situation. “We just want to say we were just messing about in the Clauditorium on Saturday night. It was a silly joke, and we’re sorry,” Katya said. Wynne added, “Yeah, sorry.”

Despite the apology, many fans remained unconvinced. One viewer commented, “The hand slowly moving across Katya’s stomach, and her moving it away… how is that a ‘joke’?” Another added, “Please leave Strictly Come Dancing… you’re making your partner uncomfortable.”

Katya also responded to fan concerns on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying that the pair have “in-jokes” between them, further emphasising that no harm was intended.
