Queen Elizabeth II reportedly made a sharp joke about Boris Johnson just two days before her death in 2022.

Newly serialised excerpts from Tim Shipman’s book, Out, reveal the Queen’s mischievous humour was very much alive in her final days of service. According to Shipman, after formally accepting Boris Johnson’s resignation, the Queen quipped, “At least I won’t have that idiot organising my funeral now.”

This came as she appointed Liz Truss as her 15th prime minister, following Johnson’s resignation amidst a string of controversies.

A Final Quip About Boris Johnson

Shipman also claims the Queen made another playful remark, adding that Johnson “was perhaps better suited to the stage.”

Reports suggest the Queen was especially displeased with Johnson’s 2019 decision to suspend Parliament, a move that upset several members of the royal family, who felt it showed a lack of respect for her position.
