Donald Trump has joked that he “can’t get rid” of Elon Musk, as the billionaire continues to spend significant time with the president-elect.

On Tuesday, Musk was appointed co-chair of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. He’ll lead the agency alongside former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Announcing the new department, Trump confirmed it would function “outside of government.”

Musk’s Unofficial Residency at Mar-a-Lago

According to reports, Musk has been spending “nearly every day” with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. He’s been seen dining with Trump on the patio and even tagging along on the golf course, despite not playing the sport. Musk’s frequent presence has raised some eyebrows among Trump’s inner circle.

Concerns Over Musk’s Influence

Tech journalist Kara Swisher shared her thoughts on CNN, explaining that Trump insiders are growing “confused and unnerved” by Musk’s frequent presence.

“He definitely inserts himself all the time; that’s his style,” Swisher said. “He’s like the guest that wouldn’t leave.”

Swisher added, “I’ve heard from Trump people calling me, saying, ‘Oh wow, this is odd.’ And I just tell them, ‘Yes, it is – and you’ll see much more of it.’”
