Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have both been temporarily suspended from boxing after their highly anticipated bout in Dallas. The fight, which aired on Netflix, saw Paul defeat the 58-year-old Tyson via unanimous decision in what many consider a shocking blow to the legendary boxer’s legacy.

The match started strong for Tyson, who dominated in the early rounds. However, fatigue set in, allowing the 27-year-old Paul to seize control and secure the win after eight rounds. The victory marked a significant moment in Paul’s boxing career and left fans divided over the outcome.
Mandatory Suspension Period
Both fighters will now face a mandatory suspension from the sport. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which licensed the bout, enforces a post-fight suspension to ensure fighters can recover fully.
The board’s rules stipulate a minimum seven-day rest period, with an additional three days per round fought. Since the fight lasted all eight rounds, both boxers will be sidelined for 24 days.
The board explained, “Medical disqualification is for the contestant’s safety and is based on the recommendation of the examining physician.” Fighters can appeal the suspension if they can prove their fitness, though it seems unlikely either Paul or Tyson will seek to return to the ring immediately.
Million-Dollar Payouts
Both fighters walked away with significant earnings. Jake Paul reportedly made $40 million (ÂŁ31.7 million), while Tyson earned $20 million (ÂŁ15.8 million). Paul hinted at additional bonuses, suggesting the fighters will have plenty of time and resources to relax during their suspension.
