Lunch over accountability? Farage storms out mid-interview on Reform MP scandal

“You’ve had your fun, I’m off for lunch."

Nigel Farage proved once again he’s never far from the drama as he abruptly walked out of a Sky News interview after being grilled about one of his MPs, James McMurdock, and his rather grim past.

McMurdock, the Reform MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock, recently had an old skeleton dragged out of the closet by The Times. It turns out he was jailed 18 years ago for violently assaulting his girlfriend—a far cry from his earlier attempts to brush it off as a mere “teenage indiscretion” involving a simple “push.” Spoiler: it wasn’t a push.

During the interview on Thursday (28th November), Farage was pressed about how someone with McMurdock’s record managed to slip through Reform’s supposedly “vigorous vetting standards.” Unsurprisingly, the questions didn’t sit well with the ever-fiery Farage.

Appearing visibly irritated, he eventually snapped, “You’ve had your fun,” before dramatically declaring, “I’m off for lunch.” And with that, he made his exit, leaving viewers wondering if his lunch plans were really worth the hasty retreat.

Farage’s reaction hasn’t exactly helped Reform UK’s PR woes, with critics quick to point out that dodging tough questions isn’t the best look for a party trying to present itself as a credible alternative. Perhaps next time, he’ll bring a packed lunch—and some better answers.
