When The Watcher debuted on Netflix in October, it had the feel of a limited series— well that’s because it was. Ryan Murphy’s most recent hit was intended to be a one-off tale, but once it became a streaming phenomenon, the decision was taken to bring The Watcher and Dahmer, now known as Monster, back for a second unexpected season.

Following the record-breaking success of DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan will create two more installments that will focus on other monstrous figures who have impacted society.

“Audiences can’t take their eyes off Monster and The Watcher,” said Netflix’s Bela Bajaria, Head of Global TV, in an official press release when season two was first announced.

“The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on Monster along with Eric Newman on The Watcher are masterful storytellers who captivated audiences all over the world. The back-to-back force of these two series is due to Ryan’s distinct original voice which created cultural sensations and we are thrilled to continue telling stories in the Monster and Watcher universes.”
