Fans of Grimm, rejoice! The supernatural drama that had us hooked back in the 2010s is making its grand return—this time as a movie. NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, is reviving the world of Grimms and Wesen, giving fans a fresh dose of fantasy and introducing a new audience to its rich mythology.

A Grimm Revival—But With a Twist

Forget your typical TV reboot. Grimm is coming back in cinematic form, penned by Drop Dead Diva writer Josh Berman. The original show’s creative heavyweights—David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf, Sean Hayes, and Todd Milliner—are also on board to ensure the reboot captures the magic of the series while updating it for a new era.

While the plot is still shrouded in mystery (classic Grimm), expect a mix of old favourites, new characters, and expanded mythology. The movie aims to honour the original fanbase while being accessible for newcomers. Basically, it’s for everyone—whether you’re a Wesen expert or someone who just thought Portland looked cool on TV.

What Made Grimm So Magical?

Back in 2011, Grimm hit our screens and introduced us to Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a Portland detective who discovers he’s a Grimm—someone tasked with keeping mythological creatures in check. Think Sherlock Holmes meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Despite airing on the dreaded Friday night slot, the show became a surprise hit. It ran for six seasons, blending weekly detective cases with ambitious fantasy world-building. It didn’t just survive; it thrived, becoming one of Friday’s highest-rated scripted shows and building a global fanbase.

Why the Movie Format?

Peacock and NBC clearly see the potential for more Grimm magic but are switching things up with a movie instead of a series. It’s a bold move, but if it means more Wesen battles, Grimm lore, and supernatural Portland vibes, who are we to complain?

With the promise of expanded mythology, it sounds like this could be the perfect gateway for a new generation of fans while giving the OG audience plenty to sink their teeth into.

Stream the Original Now

If you’re feeling nostalgic or want to catch up before the reboot lands, all six seasons of Grimm are available to stream on Peacock. Let the Wesen-spotting begin!
