British singer and actor Paloma Faith took the stage at a pro-Palestine protest in London over the weekend, delivering a passionate speech to thousands of demonstrators. Draped in a Palestinian keffiyeh, she condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and vowed to keep speaking out.

“I won’t be silent until Palestine is free,” she declared.

Israel’s deadly airstrike

Faith’s speech came just as reports emerged of an Israeli airstrike hitting a hospital in Gaza, killing a senior Hamas leader and an aide. Israel has long accused Hamas of using hospitals as command centres, claims the group denies.

Meanwhile, the United Nations announced it is scaling back its presence in Gaza. This follows an Israeli tank strike on a UN compound, which killed one staff member and wounded five others.

✊ ‘We’d be silent for 300 hours’

Faith pulled no punches in her speech.

“I know that Israel has violated every ceasefire agreement it has ever signed,” she told the crowd. “But even with that knowledge, after months of watching this genocide, I wasn’t prepared for the new depths of brutality that Israel has descended to.”

She then highlighted the staggering child death toll in Gaza, making a powerful point:

“If we stood in silence for a minute for every child killed, we’d be silent for over 300 hours. So I won’t fall silent.”

🎤 Using her platform

Faith acknowledged the responsibility that comes with fame, saying:

“I’m fortunate to have a platform, and I know that if I don’t use it to speak out for the oppressed, then I am complicit in their oppression.”

Her words have sparked strong reactions across social media, with supporters praising her bravery while critics argue celebrities should stay out of politics.

But one thing’s for sure – Paloma Faith isn’t backing down.
