Nigel Farage’s Reform use an ‘odd’ slogan & bemused doesn’t even cut it

“Don't know who's doing Reform's PR..." wrote one bemused X user.

Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party launched its campaign for the English local elections this weekend in Birmingham. However, it wasn’t just their policies that caught people’s attention. The slogan they chose for the campaign, “Reform will fix it,” has sparked more than a little discomfort.

👀 A Familiar Phrase

At first glance, the slogan seems harmless enough. Farage is keen to point out that Reform UK is here to fix the broken system. But eagle-eyed viewers couldn’t help but notice that “Reform will fix it” is eerily similar to the phrase “Jim’ll Fix It,” famously associated with the disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile.

As Farage addressed the crowd, he said, “I came back out of retirement to do this, I’m not mucking about. I’ve got one very clear, simple goal, and that is that Reform win the next general election and turn this country around.”

But the slogan took centre stage on social media, where some took to X (formerly Twitter) to point out the uncomfortable similarity.

🧐 Farage Defends the Slogan

Farage didn’t seem too bothered by the criticism. He tweeted: “Your council is broken. Reform will fix it.” But while he may stand by the slogan, many are left wondering if this choice might backfire. Could it be a clever marketing tactic, or simply a case of really bad timing?

🔴 The Backlash

The comparison to Savile has, understandably, caused quite a stir. Many have questioned whether the party’s marketing team missed the memo on how the phrase would be perceived. After all, “Reform will fix it” is an oddly familiar phrase that has a deeply unpleasant history.

Nige'll Fix It. You'd think the world would have tired of dodgy geezers with their own secret agendas offering simplistic solutions but no. I see Saville with 2 Ls is trending. It is Savile as in Vile. For Farage see Rage pic.twitter.com/6yqDU0qecj
