Yesterday, millions of households faced sharp rises in everything from council tax to water from Tuesday, in what has been labelled “Awful April”.

Water, energy and council tax are just some of the bills going up as changing thresholds will cause more people to be liable for other outgoings like stamp duty and car tax.

Big tech

It comes as US technology companies have been offered a significant tax cut by Keir Starmer in return for lower tariffs from Donald Trump’s administration as the UK braces itself for a global trade war.

Downing Street is also offering to change the tariffs that it imposes on American exports of chicken, beef and other meats, according to The Daily Telegraph, in a move that could further inflame tensions between Labour and farmers already furious at Sir Keir’s inheritance tax changes.

Starmer is everything we don’t need in a leader right now: weak against the strong but authoritarian against the weak; an establishment toady and an appeaser of wealth and power; utterly dishonest and without principle or attachment to the public interest. https://t.co/PlEplMvuTd

STARMER – Has offered to significantly lower taxes for US tech companies, in return for lower tariffs on U.K. exports.

So he’d rather harm U.K. tech companies than give U.K. citizens free speech.

The rest of the world stands up to Trump, but Starmer grovels to him and the billionaires. Better tell Reeves that there will be less money coming into the Treasury, so that she can make more cuts to the poorer of society to make up for it. 😡🥀 https://t.co/zeTHaMV8kP

Sycophantic bs. Dancing along as imperialist America’s puppy and enthusiastically supporting its foreign wars is making the UK and its people less safe.

Time to focus on Britain and our close european allies before the American empire crumbles. https://t.co/3cV74bW48m
