Darren Grimes, the Reform UK councillor for Annfield Plain, has found himself in a bit of a pickle – and it’s all his own doing.
🎯 Grimes Takes a Stand – Against Nothing
Fresh from his recent election win, the former GB News presenter declared on X that he wouldn’t be attending council training sessions on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) or climate change. His reasoning? “I do not believe in anti-white racism or making my voters colder and poorer.”
Sounds like a bold stand – except for one small problem. The training he’s refusing to attend doesn’t actually exist.
North Durham MP Luke Akehurst was quick to point this out, tweeting: “I took a look at the training programme for new Durham County Councillors. There aren’t training sessions on either of the subjects Darren is refusing to attend.”
🤦♂️ Reform’s Repeat Offenders
This isn’t the first time Reform UK has tripped over its own message. After her election as Lincolnshire mayor, Andrea Jenkyns vowed to sack all diversity officers. But a Freedom of Information request quickly revealed that Lincolnshire Council doesn’t employ any.
And then there’s Nigel Farage, who promised to crack down on working from home at Reform-controlled councils – only for it to emerge that Reform themselves advertise remote jobs.
