This week, Professor Rupert Read made a dramatic splash during his appearance on GB News, calling out host Martin Daubney for bias and a lack of integrity. The fiery debate about net zero and energy bills escalated quickly, with Read throwing some cutting remarks that left Daubney visibly rattled.
🔥 Tensions Flare Over Net Zero Debate
It all kicked off when Daubney pressed Read for a clear timeline on when British consumers would see energy bills drop due to net zero policies. Read, however, was non-committal, stating that reductions would only happen when the government “invests more.”
This answer didn’t sit well with Daubney, and the conversation soon descended into a heated exchange of words. Read, unfazed, managed to turn the tide when Daubney quoted Centrica’s Chris O’Shea, who claimed that net zero policies “will not make anyone’s bills cheaper.”
💥 Read’s Savage Retort
The Professor wasn’t having any of it. With a sharp retort, Read accused Daubney and his channel of being dishonest. “Centrica won’t tell you the truth, nor will your channel,” Read fired back, adding that the GB News owner, Paul Marshall, is deeply tied to the fossil fuel industry.
“That’s right. You’re playing the tune your boss wants you to play,” Read continued, hitting Daubney where it hurts. “The energy companies are ripping us off. I suggest that rather than criticising renewable energy, you go after the companies that are ripping off the taxpayers. Centrica is one of them.”
⚡ GB News Host Pressed on Fossil Fuel Ties
As the debate raged on, Read didn’t hold back. He took aim at the fossil fuel connections of GB News owner Paul Marshall, accusing Daubney of pushing an agenda driven by Marshall’s interests in the industry.
“Just like GB News won’t tell you the truth, because you’re owned by Paul Marshall, a fossil fuel magnate. Your bias is very obvious,” Read said. “Every time I come on this channel, you cheerlead fossil fuels. Is that to do with your owner?”
💬 The Showdown Continues
Despite being interrupted, Read wasn’t backing down. Daubney kept pressing for clarity on when renewable energy would start benefiting British consumers financially, but Read’s response was firm.
“Your channel has no integrity. You have no integrity,” Read said, calling out both Daubney and the station. “Renewable energy is now the cheapest form of energy in this country. Are you interested in facts, or do you just want to make stupid accusations? Our bills will go down when we invest more in renewables.”
