Sky News presenter Trevor Phillips didn’t mince his words when he grilled Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch on her party’s dire polling.
📊 “12 points adrift in the polls” This week’s YouGov survey threw a political curveball: Reform UK leads on 29%, Labour on 22%, the Lib Dems on 17%, and the Tories languishing in fourth place at just 16%—their lowest ever with YouGov and the first time they’ve fallen to fourth since June 2019.
🤔 “Gossip about Johnson’s return” Phillips pressed Badenoch:

“You’re 12 points adrift of Reform in the polls. There’s gossip among your backbenchers and local councillors. Is it really annoying that people keep talking about the return of Boris Johnson?”
“People have underestimated me since I was 16. I came back to the UK with £100—my dad’s last £100—worked at McDonald’s to look after myself. Look where I am now—”
Phillips interjected:
“Twelve points adrift in the polls, that’s where you are.”
🛡️ Fighting back on policy Badenoch defended her stance:

“I’m not going to chase polls with unaffordable policies like Nigel Farage… I will take the right decisions to rebuild trust with the public.”
She acknowledged voter anger and pledged to “take us back” from historic defeats, including reversing unpopular cuts such as the two-child benefit cap.
