Back in August 2022 Rishi Sunak had to be shown how to use his contactless card after a petrol station gaffe.

The embarrassing exchange took place in March as the Tory MP promoted a 5pm fuel duty cut.

He did manage to manage to fill up a car, which later turned out to be a red Kia Rio, they borrowed from a Sainsbury’s staff member, yep a FARCE.

At the time one exasperated social media user wrote ‘Chancellor of the exchequer doesn’t know how to use contactless – my head’s gone.’

Am I going to get my phone out to photograph this and install some app to open it, when you could have just posted a link? Anyway, "Look, a QR code*, such innovation!".

Full explanation here you go…

If you get impostor syndrome, read this.

This is a real press release from the UK Prime Minister. He tweeted a QR code which:

– Mobile Twitter users can't scan
– Requires @AdobeAero
– Breaks on Android
– Glitches on iOS

And if you jump through the hoops… THIS is the result. https://t.co/JTPczLhqas pic.twitter.com/j9qeMKZUM7

Small boats

Also today Rishi Sunak is the latest PM to make a crackdown on small boats crossing the Channel one of their priorities.

However, his own government has admitted that his plan will “push the boundaries of international law”, and critics have branded it “unworkable” and “costly”.
