Potholes are annoying, without a doubt, the PM Rsihi Sunak made a big announcement about it at end of March this year.

He promised a clampdown on potholes, as campaigning for the local elections gets under way.

On a visit to Darlington, in north-east England, he said new powers would help ensure firms repair roads properly after carrying out works, through more fines and inspections.

Back in 2021 he tweeted: “At the last budget we put aside enough to fill 50 million potholes by the end of the Parliament. So enjoy #NationalPotholeDay before they’re all gone.”

Labour’s Louise Haigh told the House of Commons: “Rishi Sunak, as Chancellor, personally slashed the pothole budget by £400m, enough to fill 8 million potholes… this giant Tory pothole would stretch from here to John o’ Groats & back… our roads, like Tory excuses, are full of holes?”
