The Coronation of the King is coming, and we have been urged to pledge allegiance, which if you didn’t read the the Mail et al, you might not be aware of.

The long weekend is expected to cost British taxpayers at least £100 million.

However, millions of people watching the Coronation will be asked to swear an oath to King Charles this Saturday

People watching the ceremony will be invited to say the words: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law – so help me God.”

Pledge allegiance

The Coronation oath in full reads: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”

This will be followed by a fanfare, and Mr Welby will then say: “God Save The King”, with all asked to respond: “God Save King Charles. Long Live King Charles. May The King live forever.”

Graham Smith, a spokesman for anti-monarchy group Republic, said: “In a democracy it is the head of state who should be swearing allegiance to the people, not the other way around.”

Archbishop

The Archbishop of Canterbury will be the one to invite the public to take part in a “great cry around the nation and around the world of support for the King”.

As Zoe Williams writes in the Guardian: “No, I’m sorry, this is ridiculous. What does “true allegiance” even entail? How would it differ from false allegiance? According to which law? I mean, sure, I’m happy not to murder you or steal your stuff, if those are the kinds of laws you are talking about.”

Every penny of this royal farce should come out of Charles’ own pocket if he wants the pomp so much.

The £250m for the Coronation is the same as the funding for 40,000 school places. Or enough to fund Food Banks for 5 years, or enough to fund healthcare for 80,000 people.

It is a colossal waste for one old mans vanity and one he could use his £1.8bn wealth to fund.

POLL SHOWS ALMOST NO ALLEGIANCE FOR THE WEF's "GREAT RESET NET ZERO KING" :

GMB (Good Morning Britain) probably regrets conducting this Twitter poll. Over 85% will not pledge allegiance to living in 15 minute cities and eating grasshopppers & caterpillars. pic.twitter.com/J5BJBifn7W

Just performed a citizen's arrest on a woman in Boots who couldn't recite the King's Oath of Allegiance on demand.

She may have objected to being put in a headlock, but the King objects to his subjects not swearing fealty.

Swear allegiance to Prince Andrew (8th in line for the throne)? I don’t think so. Oaths of fealty belong in Game of Thrones, not in a modern democracy https://t.co/DH7xd9MHh2
