I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have no problem supporting those less fortunate than me. I’ve been on benefits – it’s not nice.
What I do have a problem with is millionaires stealing & wasting my money.

This benefits crackdown nonsense is to deflect – nothing more

This is me he's talking about.
I gave twenty of my finest years to serving this country as a soldier, & serving the communities in this country as a firefighter.
Now I'm nearing 60 & too ill to work any more, he will watch me starve.
Over priveleged, over entitled, tax dodger. https://t.co/ZYksgAD2JI pic.twitter.com/jdA5a1VvxN

'Crackdown' on 'jobless benefits' for those who have been 'deemed too sick to work'. Er, so your question is should those CONFIRMED by the DWP to be suffering with long-term illness and/or a disability be supported by the state. So, what instead? They starve? Live on the street? https://t.co/BLRhpWztpi

The rhetoric around disability benefits is getting nastier and nastier.

Almost half of people in poverty are disabled. Meanwhile daytime TV paints disabled people as a drain on taxpayers, and questions their right to support.

❌ We can’t let this narrative go unchallenged. https://t.co/uIum7YId7D

Unclaimed welfare benefits

UK households missing out on £19bn a year in unclaimed welfare benefits.

Millions of UK households are collectively missing out on at least £19bn a year in unclaimed welfare benefits, at a time when many are forced to use food banks or run up debt as they struggle with rising living costs, according to new estimates, reports The Guardian.

“It is shocking that £19bn of benefits and support is unclaimed at any time, let alone during a cost of living crisis,” said Deven Ghelani, director of Policy in Practice. “Missing out on eligible benefits could be the difference between households keeping their heads above water and feeling they are drowning,” he added.
