Gladiator 2’s official release date has been set for late 2024 by director Ridley Scott.

A sequel to Scott’s 2000 box office smash hit Gladiator, which starred Russell Crowe as Roman soldier Maximus, was confirmed in 2018. The film followed Maximus as he was forced into slavery and vowed to exact revenge against his betrayer Commodus, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix.

The sequel will reportedly hit theatres on November 22, 2024, over twenty-four years after the first film, according to Variety.

Russell won’t appear in the follow-up because Maximus’ death was revealed at the conclusion of Gladiator. This was recently reiterated by the actor on a Fitzy and Wippa podcast episode.
