“Detective Axel Foley (Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills,” reads the logline for the new film in the cop franchise.

“After his daughter Jane’s (Taylour Paige) life is threatened, she and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.”

Beverly Hills Cop (1984):

Directed by Martin Brest, the first film introduces Axel Foley as a wise-cracking and unconventional Detroit detective who travels to Beverly Hills to solve the murder of his best friend. The film was a massive success and established Eddie Murphy as a major film star. It features a memorable soundtrack, including the famous “Axel F” theme by Harold Faltermeyer.

Beverly Hills Cop II (1987):

Directed by Tony Scott, the sequel sees Axel Foley returning to Beverly Hills to help his friend, who is now working as a captain in the Beverly Hills Police Department. The film follows Foley as he investigates a series of crimes involving a wealthy and influential art dealer. While not as critically acclaimed as the first film, it was still a box office success.

Beverly Hills Cop III (1994):

Directed by John Landis, the third installment finds Axel Foley investigating a theme park in Beverly Hills after a close friend is killed there. The film received mixed reviews and was not as successful as its predecessors.
