Mortal Kombat 2 is coming to our screens soon. Mortal Kombat has been a huge worldwide success as a video game since the early 1990s.
Mortal Kombat, the film, was released in 1995, followed by its sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, in 1997.
The second film didn’t get the eyeballs of the first movie so it seemed the end of the road for films.
Then in 2021, a reboot of the original Mortal Kombat film, was an enormous success.
New Line Cinema decided pretty quickly that a second film should be made.
However, due to the strike action in Hollywood, there will be a delay in getting the film finished.
Mortal Kombat 2
This new film is currently in production and promises to be everything that fans wanted from past movies.
Simon McQuoid, who directed the previous Mortal Kombat, will return as director.
In an interview with The Direct, Slater said this about the script: ““I’m working really closely with the director and the studios, and the game guys, and I think — I can’t say anything about the actual story, but I think they definitely learned some lessons the last time around in terms of, ‘Here’s the stuff fans responded to, and here’s what people liked out of the movie, and here’s the stuff that didn’t work out as well as we hoped.’ So we’re really looking at this as a chance to take everything that worked in the first one and do it even better and give the audience even more, and make something that is just incredibly satisfying, and really exciting, and unpredictable.”
Johnny Cage
Cage was not in the first film but will be busrting into the screens for this sequal.
WWE’s The Miz wanted the role but the role has gone to Karl Urban.
IGN tweeted: “”There’s millions of people that want that part. There’s one, and I didn’t get it” said WWE’s The Miz, addressing losing out on the part of Johnny Cage to Karl Urban in Mortal Kombat 2, following with: “Will I be watching it? 100%. I’ll probably be the first person in line.”
