The 1998 movie Practical Magic, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, is undoubtedly well-known and a cult favourite.
The Alice Hoffman-based movie ends pleasantly, but what if the plot were to continue in a Laws of Magic television series?
Sisters Sally (Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Kidman) lose both their parents as children and go off to live with their aunts Frances (Stockard Channing) and Jet (Dianne Wiest).
The family comes from a long line of witches and unfortunately suffers at the hands of a curse involving the men they love. In the end the two sisters are able to defeat the curse, Sally finds love once again, and they manage to also change the opinion of the town they reside in.
So where does this TV series Rules of Magic fit in? Variety released an article back in 2019 stating that this prequel, Rules of Magic has been ordered for HBO Max.
Regrettably, no official announcements have been made regarding filming, casting, or the anticipated release date. It’s also likely that the epidemic that broke out shortly after the announcement didn’t help.
While waiting for this prequel series to come together, we’ll keep an eye out for any new developments as they emerge.
