Former PM Boris Johnson has made a NSFW comment on long covid (allegedly) and it has caused fury with many people.

Long Covid Boris Johnson

It is claimed that he called long covid ‘b******s.

Anthony Metzer KC, speaking on behalf of long Covid group said to the Covid Inquiry: “In October 2020, while the Department of Health and Social Care was publishing guidance on long Covid and called for recognition and support for people with long Covid, then prime minister Boris Johnson scrawled in capitals that long Covid was ‘b*****ks’.

“Mr Johnson has admitted in his witness statement that he didn’t believe long Covid truly existed, dismissing it as ‘Gulf War Syndrome stuff’. The inquiry will be concerned to probe how the former prime minister could possibly hold this view in October 2020.”

If that wasn’t enough Diary entries by Sir Patrick Vallance were also read out.

Vallance was scathing in his thoughts after a meeting on social-distancing, when he criticised Mr Johnson’s “impossible flip-flopping” and “bipolar decision-making” – writing of “chaos as usual.”

Human shields

In other entries, Sir Patrick reportedly said he felt scientists were “used as human shields” by ministers. On 19 September 2020, he wrote: “[Johnson] is all over the place and so completely inconsistent. You can see why it was so difficult to get agreement to lock down first time.”

Also neither Vallance nor Chris Whitty were consulted in advance about Rishi Sunak’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme and if they had they would have said it would fuel transmission of Covid.

It's generally a good sign that you are wrong when serially-wrong people like Boris Johnson, Internet trolls and the antivaccine crowd agree with you.

As good a measure as it gets, it almost never fails.

Internet trolls agree with this. They're wrong. End #LongCovid denial. https://t.co/HRNR1BTKik

This is so unbelievable that it’s totally believable. Millions across the world have been debilitated by Long Covid. Many have recovered but a large proportion still have not. Boris Johnson should apologise to all of them but we all know he won’t. https://t.co/Ylu8E6sryw
