Every district in Essex voted to leave the EU.

Last week Best for Britain tweeted: “To mark the anniversary of the referendum, #BBCQT has an all-Brexiter audience, for a ‘Special’. I don’t know how special it is to ignore Remain voters, people who didn’t vote, or young people and EU citizens who couldn’t vote. Pretty much what BBC has done for seven years.”

BBC Question Time Brexit

In response to the backlash, the corporation has now said: ‘It is seven years since the nation voted in favour of Brexit. Since then, polling organisations have found that the opinions of the public have shifted from being narrowly in favour of Brexit, to the majority believing we should re-join the EU.

‘In this context, the Question Time Brexit Special will explore the views of our audience and public attitudes towards Brexit, specifically from the Vote Leave perspective. From within those who voted to leave, there will be a range of views.’

‘We will explore how leave voters now feel about how Brexit is going, what they see as the successes and failures, and what, if anything, the government or opposition might do differently.

‘As always, the chair will host a robust debate between panellists and audience members. While the panel is yet to be confirmed, it will include both leavers and remainers. Question Time often hosts specials dedicated to discussing a particular topic that is at the top of news agenda, and has regularly heard the views of both sides of the Brexit debate over the years.’

It comes as only 18% of 2016 leave voters believe Brexit has been a success, according to polling for the thinktank UK in a Changing Europe – but 61% think it will turn out well in the end.

Also, cowardly ministers have been slammed after it was revealed no one will represent the Government tonight.

Carol Vorderman wrote: “This wk many Tory cowardly MPs abstained from the vote about Johnson & now they can’t even face the people they lied to!!

“The lowest bunch of gaslighting politicians in history.”

The BBC flagship discussion programme -BBC Question Time – has an audience of only Leave voters in a pro Brexit area tonight and no Brexiteer is prepared to sit on the panel. Not one Tory MP will agree to appear. Says it all! https://t.co/rxqssEdzTN

The BBC are going ahead with this absurd travesty despite nobody from the Government being willing to participate.

They should have cancelled it at that point (well, let's be honest, before) and very loudly and repeatedly explained why they did so. pic.twitter.com/eagYG8h8ax

So it turns out that not a single member of the government was willing to go on the Brexit anniversary edition of Question Time and defend it. https://t.co/Y2oaCkV3cL

Reminder: tonight is the special Brexit edition of Question Time with an audience composed exclusively of Leavers. Yes. 100% Leavers. Because that's fair.

Notice too how the official QT account has only named the two people on the panel likely to assuage Remainer anger a little? https://t.co/HLALeZbCu5

Fair point?

In the interests of balance, when is the Remainer Special of BBC Question Time?
