The cost of food staples such as cheddar cheese, white bread and porridge oats have soared by nearly 18 per cent, according to the latest inflation figures from consumer group Which?.
Also more than 2.5 million people who are economically inactive cite long-term sickness as the reason why they are not looking for a job – and the number is rising sharply, reports The Guardian.
