Durham County Council has been taken over by Reform UK. It has already renaming several key departments to remove references to climate change and equality and inclusion.
The party, which has 65 councillors, swept to victory in the local elections to gain an overall majority.

ITV’s Tom Sheldrink wrote: ‘Here are nearly all of the 65 Reform UK councillors on Durham County Council – ahead of the meeting where they will formally take control of the council, after winning a clear majority in the election on 1 May.”
Reformâs Andrew Husband has been formally confirmed as the new leader of Durham County Council Darren Grimes confirmed as deputy leader and cabinet member for Finance, Policy & Communications.
ITV’s Tom Sheldrick added: “Reform have changed several cabinet member titles on Durham County Council âNeighbourhoods & Climate Changeâ becomes âNeighbourhoods & Environmentâ âEquality & Inclusionâ becomes âStronger Communities & Belongingâ,”

But the biggest talking point of the day was to New County Durham Reform councillor Steve Biggs, he is reported to have posted on social media in the past: “Islam has no place on this earth. One big nuke bomb needed”
“I tried to question him about it,” wrote Tom Sheldrink.
He asked a council neighbourhood warden: “Could you get rid of him please?”
