We’ve all missed Emily Maitlis since her BBC Newsnight days, but thankfully, she’s still delivering hard-hitting moments over on her News Agents podcast. And boy, did she just give us a conversation for the ages.
In one of her latest episodes, Maitlis went head-to-head with Rupert Lowe, a former MP for Reform UK, who now regularly crosses swords with Nigel Farage. Lowe’s controversial comments have been under fire for a while now, but it’s this viral moment that’s got people talking.

The topic? Lowe’s insistence on the narrative of ‘Pakistani rape gangs.’ During the podcast, he stated, “I call it Pakistani rape gangs… 95% are Pakistani.” Emily Maitlis didn’t hold back, pointing out that this claim simply wasn’t true.
“That’s absolutely not true,” she shot back. “224 white grooming gang suspects were found, compared to just 22 Pakistani suspects. Why do you only talk about Pakistani grooming gangs?”
Lowe, clearly unmoved, responded: “Emily Maitlis can call me racist for highlighting the Pakistani rape gangs. Let me be clear – I do not care. That vile attitude enabled the decades-long mass rape of working-class white girls by Pakistani men. Justice must finally be delivered.”
