Fury at Braverman’s comment on protests outside asylum hotels

Suella Braverman has indicated that tensions over asylum seekers in hotels is “understandable.”

Braverman then said it was wrong to brand rioters “racist and bigoted”.

She said violence was “never acceptable”, but then added “we are all frustrated with the situation” and it is not “racist or bigoted” to acknowledge the problems caused to communities.

Delays in processing asylum applications mean thousands of asylum seekers are being housed in hotels across the UK, until a decision is made.

Last week Far-right protesters have gathered in in Knowsley, Merseyside and Rotherham, South Yorkshire, where they have clashed with counter-demonstrators.

Resign

It coems as Ms Braverman was asked during an interview with GB News whether she could resign over a new protocol deal, she replied: “I don’t think we need to be talking about resignation.

“I’ve taken a very forthright position in the past because I’ve found the terms of previous agreements intolerable.”

However, she warned she would not support a deal “selling out on Northern Ireland, and allowing the EU a foothold in the United Kingdom”.

It was vital, she added, to “safeguard what we’ve gained from the Brexit vote” and “properly take back control”.

“I know the prime minister shares that objective,” she then said.

Fascism is on the march. Facilitated, encouraged & enabled by Westminster politicians & the Tory party.

Imagine fleeing war, fear & violence to then be met by more of it in a nation you were told would be safe & a place of sanctuary.

Hideous group with a abhorrent ideology. https://t.co/Cko2GPupIg
