As you will likely know, wether you watched the show or not, Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield were the dream team This Morning presenters for many many years.

They even made it through jumping through the gategate to see our dead Queen.

Anyway, since then Phillip has had to quit after it emerged that he had been in a relationship with a young male production member, and it has gone on for a long time.

So, he quit in disgrace.

It made the top of the news on most channels.

Holly Willoughby

So this morning Holly sent a message to viewers asking them if they (us) are ok. Then finished off her autocue.

Did NOBODY on the team know that Phillip and this young man were in a relationship all this time?

You can make your own mind up.

This tweeter pondered: “I wonder how many Lawyers, Public Relations experts, scriptwriters, and professional flannel merchants it took to write #HollyWilloughby ‘s BAFTA nominated tearful public bum suck on This Morning? TV Luvvies. Fake the lot of them.”

If you have seen the Morning show then you will know what this tweet means.

This really does feel like the morning show brought to reality.

Phillip Schofield

Now to Philip who has done a series of exclusive with The Sun since he stepped away from his job.

So on what we assume was a brand comeback he allowed pictures of him with his mum. His brother Timothy Schofield was found guilty in April of 11 sexual offences involving a child between 2016 and 2019.

She must be going through hell.

As he has done a series of sit down chats with The Sun we would assume he gave these shots the go ahead.

This tweeter wrote: “A mother’s love is unconditional but why would Philip Schofield involve his mum?”

Another tweeter wrote: “The level of cynicism on display. There are not enough characters available to fully describe what this picture says about Philip Schofield. His brother is a paedophile with crimes going back over years. Only now does he comfort his mother on camera. Shame #ToxicBritishMedia“

This is today’s front page.

On tomorrow's front page: 'I won't watch Holly's return to This Morning – it's just too devastating for me', says Philip Schofield https://t.co/SuQRBfF9B3 pic.twitter.com/Htx2jutO0x

The Sun

Also Philip Schofield came out as gay a couple of years ago, he was married with children.

This story accuses The Sun of ‘blackmail journalism’ and that he was ‘outed’ by the paper, so he agreed to do the story with them.

Now this accusation is wide open to legal action, we will never know why he decided to come out and to this publication.

However, the two have been working very closely since he quit.

Is the media world so fickle he could forgive the paper as he needs all the help he can get?

Again, only a few people know the true answer.

EXCLUSIVE: New @TheSun chief Victoria Newton 'Outed' Phillip Schofield with 'Blackmail Journalism'.

The real point

As Greenpeace UK tweeted: “Front page of BBC website: LIVE UPDATES as TV Presenter Holly Willoughby returns to This Morning. Meanwhile in Siberia…”

Or as Peter Stefanovic tweets with his video: “As @BBCNews leads on their interview with Philip Schofield it remains SILENT on a make or break moment for parliamentary democracy as Government again attempts to restrict our right to protest – this time through the back door. What the hell is going on?”

And then it comes full circle with me, and probably a lot of other writers, to make this very argument, is this really the story that is dominating the headlnes?

Is it possibly for clicks? Possibly to call out our useless media? Or maybe we just want Phil and Holly to be back on the couch making great daytime TV*

(*two out of those three are true)
