In July 2015, Channel 4’s The Last Leg had a big hit when it hired a sousaphonist to follow then-health secretary Jeremy Hunt around “to make him look like an idiot.”
The show’s host, Adam Hills, claimed that they were inspired by a man in the US who used the “comically big instrument” to accompany a KKK gathering in mockery.
And because of how well the hoax worked, Hills and company decided to pull it off again during the following Conservative Party conference.
