Junior doctor swats off critics as she opens up about harrowing & not lucrative day

"Thank you for your dedication and for calling out Steve Barclay," said one person in support.

A junior doctor took to Twitter, one assumes in desperation to be heard, to explain to Steve Barclay how her day had been and what she earned from it.

It comes as around 45,000 junior doctors are being balloted for strike action (only the second ever after 2016 walk-out) set to take place in March as they say they have had a 26.1% real-terms pay cut since 2008.

Dr Jess tweeted: “Hey @SteveBarclay, I’m a doctor. Today I was the only surgical assistant for two curative mastectomies, and got home three hours after my shift finished so a third lady’s cancer curing surgery didn’t have to be postponed. I brought home <£80 post tax. Should I be working harder?”

Some people tried called her out, but she wasn’t standing for that!

I'm a scientist who worked on the Apollo 13 space program.

See what I did there? I just said stuff. And I'm pretty sure some people would believe it, too.

More context/evidence is needed. Doctor's earn more than £80 per day, I know that.

She replied to Rob saying: “I don’t think Apollo 13 was the best Apollo to pick to make this point.”

Someone else jumped in to help the doctor and wrote: “‘Houston, we have a prat’.”

Oh and someone picked up on one of Rob’s earlier tweets about on-line trolling.

Anyway, someone else popped up and wrote: ” I understand NHS pay needs to increase, but I am finding this statement hard to believe. If it’s true post your payslip.”
