Liz Truss Backs Trump for President and people are laughing into their lettuces.

Truss said she “hopes a Republican will be returned to the White House,” as Trump ramps up for his 2024 re-election campaign, reports The Independent.

The short ever serving former prime minister said there “must be conservative leadership in the US” in order to “call out hostile regimes as evil and a threat”.

Flashback

Just a quick flashback to Truss’ time as PM, and a tweet from Best from Britain who wrote: “Things that lasted longer than Liz Truss as Prime Minister: – London 2012’s Olympic Torch Relay – Last year’s Strictly Come Dancing – Love Island this summer – The Last Tory Leadership Election – This lettuce.”

Her brief time leading the nation lasted 49 days.

She was then forced to quit after then chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s £45 billion package of unfunded tax cuts caused mayhem.

Liz Truss Backs Trump

It is likely that the White House race next year will see Trump and Biden go head-to-head again. Both men are getting on in age.

In an article for the Wall Street Journal, Truss said: “For as long as most of us can recall, the US has led the free world. During the Cold War, for example, it was American power that successfully held off the communist threat from the Soviet Union. Working in tandem with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, President Ronald Reagan was unflinching, calling the Soviet Union an “evil empire.”

“The world would benefit from more of that kind of American leadership today. I hope that a Republican will be returned to the White House in 2024. There must be conservative leadership in the U.S. that is once again bold enough to call out hostile regimes as evil and a threat.”

She even said communism is making a comeback adding that “no such victories are permanent”.

A Liz Truss endorsement – about as welcome as a meteor strike on your nether regions. First time I've ever felt sorry for Donald Trump. https://t.co/CTAgNJr6Md

That Tories wanted Liz Truss and Liz Truss wants Donald Trump gives you a pretty good insight into what the so-called Conservative Party has become. https://t.co/JwznZcJOxL

Liz Truss has apparently endorsed Trump. Well, that’s practically him back in for certain now. Now if he can just get the lettuce onside as well…

This is going to be quite the choice looming for other Tory MPs. Do they back an increasingly unhinged US Republican party, most likely represented by a borderline-sociopathic fantasist/would-be dictator, or not? Liz Truss has gone for the first option. https://t.co/mDGZqQxzqo

Trump and Truss. A match made in somewhere rather different from heaven.
