The Welsh are a proud nation and is seems an interview with Michael Sheen has been spun to get some clickbait by the Telegraph and the BBC. It has made a a lot of people NOT happy.

Before we start, let’s have a listen to his rousing speech to the Welsh football team ahead of the Qatar world cup.

OK, they were a bit rubbish but that’s not Sheen’s fault.

And the BBC’s…

The most misleading headline I have ever seen ⁦@BBCWalesNews⁩ . Are you know employing ex-Daily Mail reporters in Cardiff to manufacture click-bait headlines? – ‘Michael Sheen objects to non-Welsh actors in Welsh roles – BBC News’ https://t.co/9tfUGqaTww

— Kevin Pascoe #PoliticsOfFairness #Ex-Labour (@KevinPascoe) June 6, 2023

This tweeter writes: “Before the next brain genius tweets about Brian Clough or David Frost, here’s what Michael Sheen actually said about non-Welsh actors playing Welshmen, rather than the clickbait headline”

He said: “You know, seeing people playing Welsh characters who are not Welsh, I find, it’s very hard for me to accept that.”

But, the actor added that this view was not “particularly on a point of principle”.

Here's the BBC deploying the same second-hand lazy clickbaity headline as the Mail, to drive traffic to a story about Michael Sheen in which he neither objects nor hits out at non-Welsh actors playing Welsh roles. A lot of digital journalism is made shit by the urge for clicks. pic.twitter.com/tVA51ojRpt

I object to everyone leaping on a clickbait title to criticise one of the most inspirational, beautiful things to ever happen to Cymru. Say what you like, Michael Sheen is an absolute legend and we love him.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿#YmaOHyd #YesCymru #Annibyniaeth #MichaelSheen https://t.co/KJ3p6429Fw pic.twitter.com/PUw1Q086BX

The bar is being reset ever lower. Nowhere does he use the word “object” 🤦‍♂️

7.

The headline somewhat overstates what he apparently said.
As is often the case with headlines.
