Elon Musk formally exited his role in the Trump administration, ending a contentious and generally unpopular run as a senior adviser to the president and de facto head of the so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge).

His role was temporary and his exit is not unexpected, but it comes a day after Musk criticised the legislative centrepiece of Trump’s agenda.

Thanks for destroying the government. You failed miserably. You claimed you found waste, fraud and abuse and you couldn't quantify or prove it.
