Not My King is trending today as a Scottish coronation protest is taking place in Edinburgh organised by Republic a group that aims to get the British monarchy abolished.

It comes as King Charles III will be presented with Scotland’s crown jewels in Edinburgh later in a ceremony to mark his Coronation.

The crown jewels will be presented to the King by the Very Reverend Prof David Fergusson, Dean of the Chapel Royal and Dean of the Order of the Thistle.

Prince William attacks homelessness ‘prejudice’

It comes as Prince William launched a major five-year campaign to end homelessness, which he says should not exist in a “modern and progressive society”.

“Everyone should have a safe and secure home,” said Prince William.

There are more than 300,000 people currently homeless across the UK, which includes those who are stuck in hostels and temporary accommodation, living in cars and sofa-surfing, as well as people who are rough sleeping, according to the BBC.

Graham Smith, of the anti-monarchy group, Republic said: “The last thing we need is for William to get involved in this issue, a man who has three huge homes and a vast estate gifted to him by the state.”

Map

However, a map has gone viral that outlines the amount of homes the royals own around the UK.

One person who shared the map wrote: “How many homes does one NEED? If Wills really wants to end homelessness, imagine how many homes could be built on the grounds of these. Or convert them to condos. The cost of his helo-hopping around this week alone would build many! #PrinceWilliam #AbolishTheMonarchy.”

When I look at Chuck sitting on a throne wearing ermine and jewels trying to look regal, the sense of elitist entitlement is palpable.

This patriarchal sight is a justifiable endorsement for anyone who wants to #AbolishtheMonarchy pic.twitter.com/x7f9e9Dw6x

#Scotland: #Edinburgh is protesting against the undemocratic, unneeded, unwanted monarchy. Join protesters at the cathedral or along the royal mile, or rally at 1pm outside the Scottish Parliament.#ScottishRepublicanWeek #NotMyKing #NotScotlandsKing #AbolishTheMonarchy pic.twitter.com/hIwVAAT1V9

3.

It’s shocking. The Brits have been deceived for centuries, but now people have more information. They’ve been lied to that the royals bring money. No one goes to London to see Charles. They want to see the palaces and other attractions.
