During today’s PMQ Plaid Cymru’s Liz Saville Roberts focuses on Starmer’s use of language in his speech on immigration this week, where he said the UK risks becoming an “island of strangers”.
She says the only principle he consistently defends is “whichever he last heard in a focus group”.
She asked, if there is any belief he holds which lasts longer than a week?
Starmer says “she talks rubbish”, adding that the party is fixing the system based on principles of control, selection and fairness.
Liz replied, writing on X: “My question clearly struck a nerve. The faces of many Labour MPs told their own story – plenty of them know I was right. If Starmer’s convictions change with the political weather, it’s no surprise that support for Labour is falling through the floor.”
Many people thought his response was out of order.
Delyth Jewell wrote: “What an appalling response from Starmer. Crass, condescending, and utterly unfitting of a Prime Minister. He should be ashamed.”
