Post about NHS privatisation is going viral, here’s why

"Excellent point made here," said one person in response.

At this week’s PMQs Rishi Sunak blamed NHS wait times on striking staff who are demanding more pay. He didn’t mention NHS privatisation being a cause of any of it.

The prime minister added that “clear plans are in place” to bring down waiting lists as he was challenged on why the number of people waiting has increased in the nine months since he took office.

“Mr Speaker, the reason that the NHS waiting lists are higher today than they were then – after actually being stable for the first few months is very simple,” Mr Sunak said.

Starmer public services

Back in January the labour leader sparked a backlash with a NHS reform plan which some saw as creeping privatisation.

The British Medical Association (BMA) said Labour didn’t “understand” the vital role of GPs, while leading NHS campaigner Dr Rachel Clarke called Sir Keir’s proposal “monumentally stupid”.

At the time a former frontbencher told The Independent: “Labour’s frontbench needs to come clean. Will they make large-scale investments and pay the staff what they deserve, or not?”

Well that seems to still be on ongoing issue as on 16th July on BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg Sir Keir Starmer again refused to say whether a Labour government would spend more money on public services.

NHS privitisation

With all this in mind and the assumption that the Tories are, in the main, hell bent on privitisation into the NHS, a Twitter account with the handle @Hawthorn1H wrote: “To all the people who think the NHS is now so bad privatisation is the only option, ask yourself this: Are privatised Water companies, railways, Royal Mail, probation service – any of them – offering a better service since privatisation? And the taxpayer still picks up the bill.
