A seemingly Pro Brexit Guardian article has been pulled apart by a recent news clip.

They both give a VERY different picture of the UK.

Which one do you recognise?

Pro Brexit Guardian Article

Larry Elliot at the Guardian wrote an article titled: “I’ve got news for those who say Brexit is a disaster: it isn’t. That’s why rejoining is just a pipe dream.”

The piece ends with: “This wasn’t supposed to happen. Perhaps because Brexit provided a safety valve – unavailable elsewhere – for those who felt their concerns were being ignored, the UK has not witnessed the rise of the nasty nationalism seen across the Channel. The worrying state of EU politics explains why rejoiners face a long battle. And why the main parties in the UK are right to let sleeping dogs lie.”

⁦Larry Elliot, the Guardian’s token Brexit cheerleader, makes the usual mistake that the British make and that is to think that the EU is only about the economy. It is much more than that. https://t.co/7WEyauPq0o

Agree or not, one has to admire the sheer chutzpah of Larry Elliot on the Guardian. Telling its readers the UK economy is actually doing OK, Brexit is not a disaster, in some ways the EU is worse off = no Rejoin

I usually find something to agree with in most Guardian columns but this by Larry Elliot – ‘Brexit ain’t all bad’ – is nonsense. https://t.co/B1QT6irsqp

News Clip

Over on ITV News there was a VERY different take on how the UK is coping.

Tom Bradbury said: “Picture a country going backwards, where workers haven’t had a decent pay rise in 15 years, public services are on the verge of collapse, and the gap between rich and poor grows year on year.

“That is how Britain was described today in a bleak and damming assessment of its economy. The failure to achieve all but negligible growth has left the average worker, a simply staggering, £10,000 a year worse off.

“And we’re now lagging way behind countries we used to think of as equals. In Germany, middle income households are 20% richer than their peers in the UK.

“We’d be here all night if we listed the failings identified in the 290 page report. But put simply, in almost every sector, the UK is just not productive enough.”
