Olympic medalist Sharron Davies has been on social media moaning about modern-day ‘woke’ movies and the classic old films that didn’t have a message, but more of that in a minute…

London Marathon

It comes as Sharron Davies has accused London Marathon organisers of being “anti-women” after they failed to ban trans women from competing in the women’s race over the weekend.

The Olympic swimming hero said the organisation was acting “against the law” following last week’s Supreme Court ruling, which found that the protected characteristic of “woman” under the Equality Act refers to biological women.

On Saturday night, London Marathon chief executive Hugh Brasher reiterated the current rule that transgender women can run as females. He said: “The mass participation event at the London Marathon is not a race where participants compete against each other. It is a personal challenge.”

Since you don’t like movies with messages in them I’m sure you’ll also be avoiding Braveheart, the Passion of the Christ, Titanic, Beauty and the Beast, Jurassic Park, the Shawshank Redemption, Glengary Glen Ross, Edward Scissorhands, West Side Story, Hamlet, The Crucible

Hi Sharron, we met in a swimming pool in Beckenham, you were one of my heroes when I was a kid. I haven't forgotten that day, but it seems you forgot that Indiana Jones punched nazis in the face, Trading Places was about racism and Star Wars was based on WWII.

9.

Indiana Jones isn’t “message free.”
It’s about fighting Nazis!

The ’80s were full of great escapism… but most of the good stuff had a pulse!

*Rocky IV? Cold War.
*E.T.? Empathy over fear.
*Star Wars? Literal rebellion against tyranny.
*Even Ghostbusters is about scrappy…

Is it painful to be this stupid? Like actual, physical pain? I can't imagine it would be or so many of you ignorant slitposts would at least curtail it some.

Plot of films

  1. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Plot: In 1936, archaeologist and adventurer Dr. Indiana Jones is hired by the U.S. government to find the biblical Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis do. They believe possessing the Ark will make their army invincible. Indy faces traps, rivals (like Belloq), and Nazi soldiers as he races around the world, culminating in a dramatic showdown where the power of the Ark is unleashed.
  2. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Plot: Set in 1935 (before Raiders), Indy escapes an assassination attempt in Shanghai and crash-lands in India. There, he stumbles upon a village whose children have been kidnapped. The trail leads him to a sinister cult (the Thuggee) who worship the goddess Kali and perform dark rituals underground. Indy must recover a sacred stone and free the enslaved children.
  3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
Plot: In 1938, Indy learns that his father, Professor Henry Jones, Sr., has disappeared while searching for the Holy Grail. He teams up with his estranged father to thwart the Nazis once again, as they seek the Grail to gain eternal life. Their journey takes them from Venice to Germany to the desert, culminating in a final test of faith and wisdom.
  4. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Plot: Set in 1957, during the Cold War, Indy battles Soviet agents led by Irina Spalko, who are searching for a mysterious crystal skull in South America. The skull leads to an ancient alien civilization. Indy teams up with a young greaser named Mutt Williams (who turns out to be his son) and reconnects with old flame Marion Ravenwood.
