A Tesla dealership in southern France went up in flames during a suspected arson attack as backlash against Elon Musk continues.
The electric car boss has been sparking controversy since he was appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by Donald Trump.
The blaze destroyed 12 vehicles worth around £550,000 in what authorities believe was a deliberate attack. Officials confirmed they have launched an investigation into ‘the destruction and damage of property belonging to others by dangerous means.’
The fire broke out around 3:15am at the dealership in Plaisance-du-Touch, near Toulouse.
In recent weeks, Tesla stores have been targeted by vandals and arsonists across two continents, prompting investigations by authorities, including the FBI.

Tesla shares plunged 28% in February, their worst month since a 37% drop in December 2022. Coincidentally, February also marked CEO Elon Musk’s first full month in the White House as part of President Donald Trump’s second administration.
In the UK sales have plummeted by almost 50 percent as Elon Musk’s popularity continues to tumble.
The term “swasticar” has been sweeping social media across Europe.
Bumper stickers that read: “I bought his before Elon went crazy” have been plastered across Teslas by apologetic owners.
