Tory donor calls for a Conservative-Reform merger — but will Farage lead? 👀

Conservative Party donor Mohamed Amersi has called for a future merger between the Tories and Reform UK. Speaking to LBC, Amersi said he hopes the two parties will unite under a strong leader within the next two to three years.

“That’s what I think could happen and should happen,” he said, describing the potential merger as “an aspiration worth fighting for.”

Farage as Kingmaker, not King

Amersi also shared his thoughts on Nigel Farage’s political future. He doesn’t believe Farage will ever become Prime Minister — or even wants to.

“I think he wants to be the Kingmaker, not necessarily the King,” he added.

Keeping his options open

Despite speculation, Amersi confirmed he’s not a member of Reform UK. However, he hasn’t ruled it out completely.

“I’m keeping my options open,” he said. “It’s early days. Reform is like a venture capital investment — a new group of people figuring out their direction. It’ll take time before they gel and form clear policies.”

Reform row? Just a ‘storm in a teacup’

Amersi downplayed the recent row between Rupert Lowe MP and Reform UK leadership. He called it a “storm in a teacup” and suggested Farage should have handled it better.

“Wiser heads will prevail,” he said. “Nigel should have brought Rupert and Zia into a room and sorted it out. It’s fixable.”
